About Our Masjid
Lanarkshire Central Mosque, located in Mossend, Bellshill, was founded in 1986 under the guidance of the Lanarkshire Muslim Welfare Society. The mosque primarily serves the Sunni community and offers a range of religious services, including regular prayers and educational activities in multiple languages, such as Arabic, English, Hindi, and Urdu. Recognized for its welcoming atmosphere, the mosque provides key facilities like disabled access, gender-specific prayer areas, and ample parking.
The mosque has also actively participated in cultural and educational outreach. During Scotland’s Doors Open Days, Lanarkshire Central Mosque has historically opened its doors to the wider public, offering visitors insights into Islamic culture, architecture, and the mosque’s community activities. However, recent events have led to some cancellations, underscoring the mosque’s commitment to community welfare and safety during public events.
This mosque is a significant cultural and religious center in North Lanarkshire, engaging with the wider community and providing a space for both worship and interfaith understanding.
